A native of the Seattle area, Ms. Martin earned her bachelors degrees in music education and German from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA. She is currently working towards her master's degrees in Instrumental and Choral Conducting at Cal State LA. Ms. Martin is both an accomplished hornist and mezzo soprano. During her studies she played in the Wind Ensemble and the University orchestra. She also performed in the Wavelands woodwind quintet. Because of her love of music and the German language Ms. Martin spent a semester studying in Vienna, Austria with Franz Söllner, former member of the Vienna Philmarmonic.
As a conductor Ms. Martin has studied with Dr. Edwin Powell, and has attended symposiums where she has worked with Dr. Mallory Thompson of Northwestern University, Dr. Robert Reynolds of USC, Dr. Rob Taylor of University of British Columbia, and Dr. Gerard Morris of University of Puget Sound.
When she is not making music, you can usually find Ms. Martin trying to find the next mountain to climb both literally and figuratively. She enjoys the outdoors and misses the nearby mountains of the Pacific Northwest.
